What bathroom heating options are available?
Our bathroom heating range covers three main product types, each serving a different purpose:
-
Heated towel rails: Ladder-style rails that warm your towels and contribute to the room temperature. Available in straight, curved and flat panel styles in multiple finishes.
-
Radiators: Flat panel and column radiators are designed to heat the space efficiently. Choose from vertical radiators for wall-height-limited spaces or horizontal radiators for traditional layouts.
-
Heating accessories: Radiator valves and heating elements to complete your installation.
Towel rail vs radiator: which heats a bathroom better?
A heated towel rail and a bathroom radiator both add warmth, but they work in different ways. A towel rail is designed primarily to warm towels, with room heating as a secondary benefit. A radiator is built to heat the room first, delivering higher BTU output from the same wall space.
Choose a heated towel rail if your bathroom is compact (typically under 4m x 2m), you already have underfloor heating or another heat source, or you want the convenience of warm towels as the main priority. Choose a radiator if your bathroom relies on a single heat source, is larger, or loses heat quickly due to poor insulation or an external wall. Use both if you want warm towels and reliable room heating independently of each other. A towel rail on one wall and a radiator on another gives full control.

What size bathroom heating do I need?
The size of the heating in your bathroom depends on your wall space and the amount of heat you want. Our heating rail heights range from 800mm to 1800mm, with widths from 300mm to 600mm. 800mm to 1000mm rails suit compact cloakrooms or en-suites where wall height is limited. 1100mm to 1200mm rails work well in a standard family bathroom. 1600mm to 1800mm rails make a stronger design statement and offer higher heat output.

What finish should I choose for my bathroom heating?
Finish choice comes down to your existing fixtures and fittings. Our range is available in four finishes:
-
Chrome heating: suits most bathrooms and coordinates easily with taps and shower hardware.
-
Matt black heating: makes a strong statement in contemporary spaces and pairs well with dark furniture.
-
Brushed brass heating: adds warmth and works particularly well in warm-toned or traditional settings.
-
Anthracite heating: a popular choice for modern bathrooms with grey or charcoal palettes. Also available in white.
How to install bathroom heating
Installation steps differ depending on whether you are fitting a towel rail or a radiator. Towel rails are wall-mounted using a pair of brackets. First, mark your bracket positions at the correct centres to match the towel rail width. Check for pipes and cables before drilling, then fix the brackets using appropriate fixings for your wall type. For central heating models, connect to your system pipework using the valve connections at the base of each column. For electric models, connect to a fused spur. Bleed the rail after filling to remove any trapped air.
For a full walkthrough, read our heated towel rail installation guide.
For radiators, mark and fix wall brackets at the correct height, ensuring they are level. Hang the radiator on the brackets, then connect the flow and return valves to your pipework. Angled valves suit pipes coming from the wall, straight valves suit floor pipes, and corner valves are used where the pipe angle requires it. Once connected, bleed the radiator to remove air and check all valve connections for leaks before use.
What heating accessories do I need?
The essentials for any radiator installation are radiator valves and, for electric setups, heating elements. We stock three valve connection types to suit different installation positions:
-
Angled valves: the most common type, used when the pipe comes out of the wall.
-
Straight valves: used when the pipe comes up through the floor.
-
Corner valves: used where the pipe comes from the wall at a 90-degree angle to the radiator.
All valve packs are available in chrome, matt black, brushed brass and anthracite to match your chosen finish. To help, read our guides on how to change a radiator valve and how to increase radiator efficiency.
