Wall Hung Toilets

Wall hung toilets float off the floor for a clean, hotel-style finish and are a smart pick for small bathrooms and cloakrooms. Each of ours uses easy-clean rimless technology, a concealed dual flush cistern and a compatible wall hung frame rated to support up to 400kg once correctly installed.

How does a wall hung toilet work?

The pan hangs from a steel carrier frame fixed inside the stud or masonry wall. The cistern sits behind the wall too, out of sight, with only the bowl and flush plate on show. When you press the flush plate, the dual flush cistern (3L or 6L) releases water through the bowl in the usual way.

Are wall hung toilets hard to install?

They're more involved than a close coupled toilet. You'll need to open the wall, set the carrier frame, run waste and supply lines, then refinish the surface before fitting the pan. Most homeowners use a qualified plumber or bathroom fitter.

Our step-by-step guide on how to fit a wall hung toilet walks through every stage.

Do I need to buy the frame and cistern separately?

It depends on the product. Some of our wall hung toilets are sold as complete kits with the pan, slim soft-close seat, frame and concealed cistern all included. Others list the pan on its own so you can match it with your preferred setup. Check the product listing before you order to make sure you have everything you need.

Are wall hung toilets good for small bathrooms and cloakrooms?

Yes, that's where they earn their keep. With the cistern hidden in the wall, wall hung pans typically project 500mm to 580mm from the wall, compared to 600mm to 700mm for a standard close-coupled toilet. That's roughly 100mm to 150mm of reclaimed floor depth, and the clear floor beneath also tricks the eye into seeing a larger room. The clear floor beneath also tricks the eye into seeing a larger room. Pair one with a cloakroom basin or a slim cloakroom vanity unit for a compact, coordinated setup.

How do I clean a wall hung toilet?

The rimless bowl has no hidden channel under the rim, so dirt has nowhere to gather. A soft cloth with mild bathroom cleaner keeps the glazed ceramic looking new. You can mop straight under the pan, which is handy if you have tiled or LVT flooring.

Can I adjust the height of a wall hung toilet?

Yes. Because the pan hangs from the carrier frame rather than sitting on the floor, seat height is set during installation and not fixed by the toilet itself. The frame also adjusts to fit bowls with either 180mm or 230mm mounting-bolt spacing, so it works with a wide range of pans. Plan the finished seat height before plastering and tiling, as it can't be changed later without opening the wall.
