Bath Taps

Bath taps are high-flow plumbing fixtures designed to fill bathtubs quickly, typically featuring 3/4" BSP connections and larger internal waterways to deliver a higher volume of water than standard basin taps. Unlike smaller basin taps, they are engineered to handle the increased flow required for filling a bath efficiently and comfortably. Crafted from solid brass with premium finishes, our collection includes everything from bath filler taps and versatile bath–shower mixers to modern waterfall designs, delivering a refined balance of performance and style for your bathroom sanctuary.

What Are the Different Types of Bath Taps Available?

Choosing the right tap depends on how you use your bath and the aesthetic you want to achieve:

  • Bath Filler Taps: These are the most popular choice for modern baths, using two handles to mix hot and cold water through a single, high-flow spout.

  • Bath Shower Mixers: A versatile 2-in-1 solution that includes a handheld shower attachment. This makes it effortless to wash hair, bathe children, or rinse the tub after use.

  • Waterfall Bath Taps: These feature an open-spout design that creates a beautiful cascading water effect, adding a spa-like feel to your bathing experience.

What Is the Difference Between Deck Mounted and Wall Mounted Bath Taps?

The primary difference between deck mounted bath taps and wall mounted bath taps is installation location.  Deck mounted bath taps are installed directly onto the rim (the deck) of the bathtub. They are the standard choice for most UK baths with pre-drilled tap holes. While  wall mounted bath taps are fixed into the wall above the bathtub, concealing all pipework for a clean, minimalist look. They are the ideal partner for baths without tap holes or for creating a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

What Is the Difference Between a Bath Filler and a Bath Shower Mixer?

A bath filler tap is designed solely to fill the tub via the spout. A bath shower mixer, however, features an integrated diverter valve that allows you to switch the water flow between the spout and a handheld shower head. While the filler offers a cleaner look, the shower mixer provides much-needed flexibility for busy family households.

What Features Make Our Bath Taps a Durable Investment?

At Royal Bathrooms, we focus on heavy-duty construction to meet the high demands of daily use:

  • Solid Brass Construction: Every bath mixer is cast from high-grade, lead-free brass to ensure long-term stability and resistance to corrosion.

  • Advanced Ceramic Technology: We use large-bore ceramic disc cartridges to ensure a smooth, drip-free operation, even with the high water volumes required for baths.

  • On-Trend Finishes: Available in polished chrome, matte black, and brushed brass to match your bathroom hardware perfectly.

Are Waterfall Bath Taps Suitable for All Water Pressure Systems?

While stunning, waterfall bath taps perform best with medium to high water pressure (typically 0.5 bar and above). S Because the open spout design requires a consistent volume of water to create the waterfall effect, they are ideally suited for combi-boilers or unvented systems. For low-pressure gravity-fed systems, a standard deck mounted bath filler may provide a more efficient flow.

Are Royal Bathrooms Bath Taps WRAS Approved ?

Yes. Most Royal Bathrooms bath taps are WRAS approved confirming they meet UK Water Regulations and European safety standards. This ensures full compatibility with UK plumbing systems and professional installer approval.

Can You Use a Bath Tap on a Low Pressure System?

Many of our bath filler taps are engineered with wide internal waterways specifically for UK plumbing. This makes them compatible with low-pressure systems, as they don't restrict the water flow. Always check the "minimum required pressure" in the product specifications to ensure the tap will fill your bath at a satisfactory speed.
